AJ Dybantsa is a 6-foot-9-inch, 200-pound small forward from Brockton, Massachusetts, widely regarded as the top basketball prospect in the class of 2025. Born on January 29, 2007, he began his high school career at Saint Sebastian’s School in Needham, Massachusetts, where he averaged 19.1 points, 9.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 2.5 blocks per game as a freshman.
He was named the Massachusetts Boys’ Basketball Gatorade Player of the Year following that season.
After transferring to Prolific Prep in Napa, California, Dybantsa led the Nike Peach Jam in scoring during the summer of 2023, averaging 25.8 points per game. He concluded his high school career at Utah Prep in Hurricane, Utah, during the 2024-2025 season.
In December 2024, Dybantsa committed to Brigham Young University (BYU), reportedly agreeing to a record-breaking Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deal valued between $5 million and $7 million.
This deal is among the most lucrative in collegiate sports history. He cited the opportunity to work with BYU’s newly appointed head coach, Kevin Young—who has coached NBA stars like Kevin Durant and Devin Booker—as a significant factor in his decision.
Dybantsa is projected as a potential No. 1 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, with analysts highlighting his exceptional athleticism, scoring ability, and defensive potential.
