The Minnesota Golden Gophers’ men’s and women’s hockey teams are currently engaged in their respective postseason tournaments.

Men’s Hockey

The men’s team, co-champions of the Big Ten Regular Season, is facing the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament. This best-of-three series began on March 7 at the 3M Arena at Mariucci. In the opening game, Minnesota was edged out by Notre Dame with a 3-2 loss.

The Gophers aim to rebound in the upcoming games to advance to the Big Ten Semifinal, scheduled for March 15. Historically, Minnesota holds a 7-3 record in Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals and went 3-1 against Notre Dame in the regular season.

Women’s Hockey

The women’s team has secured the #4 seed in the 2025 NCAA Women’s Hockey Tournament. They are set to face the #5 seed Colgate Raiders in the NCAA Quarterfinals on Saturday, March 15, at 2 PM. This marks Minnesota’s 22nd appearance in the NCAA Tournament, the most by any program.

Recently, the Gophers narrowly lost to #1 Wisconsin in the WCHA Championship game, finishing 4-3 after a late goal by Wisconsin’s Sarah Wozniewicz. Despite the loss, Minnesota’s Allie Franco, Josefin Boulveng, and Natalie Mlynkova played notable roles, with both Abbey Murphy and Chloe Primerano named to the All-Tournament Team.
