JuJu Watkins is the daughter of Robert Neal-Watkins and Sari Watkins. Her mother, Sari, is one of five sisters and emphasizes the importance of community in raising a family. She believes it takes a village to support and nurture children, ensuring they don’t become overwhelmed by their responsibilities.
Her father, Robert, played football and was JuJu’s first basketball coach, teaching her the fundamentals of the game. He is also the grandson of civil rights activist Ted Watkins, who founded the Watts Labor Community Action Committee.
Together, Robert and Sari have been instrumental in JuJu’s development both on and off the court, instilling values of hard work, humility, and dedication. They have been a constant presence at her games, supporting her journey and helping her stay grounded despite her rising fame.
