Rory McIlroy is a Northern Irish professional golfer renowned for his significant contributions to the sport. Born on May 4, 1989, in Holywood, County Down, Northern Ireland, he has achieved the world number one ranking in the Official World Golf Ranking and has spent over 100 weeks in that position during his career.

McIlroy is a four-time major champion, having won the U.S. Open in 2011, the PGA Championship in 2012 and 2014, and The Open Championship in 2014. He is also the only golfer to have won the FedEx Cup three times, surpassing Tiger Woods’ two victories.

In 2025, McIlroy secured his 27th PGA Tour victory by winning the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, finishing with a score of −21, two strokes ahead of Shane Lowry.

More recently, he participated in the Arnold Palmer Invitational, where he finished tied for 13th place with a score of -3. During this tournament, McIlroy experimented with new woods but reverted to his previous clubs after experiencing challenges off the tee. He expressed his determination to refine his equipment setup ahead of upcoming major tournaments, including The Players Championship and the Masters, aiming to secure his fifth major title and end an 11-year drought.

McIlroy has also been involved in discussions concerning the ongoing dispute between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf. Despite continued talks, no agreement has been reached, and McIlroy has expressed skepticism about the likelihood of a reunification in the near future.
