fortnite update

Fortnite’s latest update, Chapter 6 Season 2, introduces several exciting features and collaborations:

Crocs Collaboration

Starting tonight, players can purchase Crocs in the Item Shop, available in four styles: white classic, pink classic, black, and grey funky. The classic Crocs are priced at 1,000 V-Bucks, while the “echo wave” and marbled styles cost 800 V-Bucks each.

Players can also customize their Crocs with Jibbitz at no extra cost and select sport mode. Early previews have showcased characters like Godzilla wearing white classic Crocs. This collaboration follows previous ventures between Crocs and Fortnite, including real-life themed Crocs such as Peely-themed and Battle Bus-themed designs.

Outlaw Keycards

Outlaw Keycards grant access to the back rooms of the Black Market, where players can find chests, items, weapons, and additional rewards. These keycards can be upgraded by completing community and specific Outlaw Keycard missions. Every five missions completed unlocks the next tier of the keycard, providing access to better rewards.

To unlock the Outlaw Keycards, the community must complete the “Rob Vaults and Safes” mission. Once achieved, Outlaw Keycard missions become available, offering additional rewards and appearing under the “The Outlaw Keycard” banner in the Battle Royale missions tab. Note that these keycards may occupy an inventory slot, similar to Victory Crowns.

Shohei Ohtani Collaboration

Shohei Ohtani, the notable baseball player, is set to join Fortnite on Monday, March 17, at 8 p.m. EDT. This collaboration includes Ohtani-themed cosmetics, events, quests, and a solo battle royale tournament. Players can purchase two bundles featuring Ohtani in his Dodgers uniform and a samurai suit, along with accessories and emotes.

The samurai outfit ignites with fire as more eliminations are made in a match and can be unlocked early by winning the Shohei Ohtani Cup on March 15. Additionally, Ohtani-themed quests will be available starting March 18 and will remain until the end of Chapter 6 Season 2.

Return to Brazilian iOS Devices

Epic Games plans to reintroduce Fortnite and its mobile game store to iOS users in Brazil in July, following a recent ruling that mandates Apple to permit sideloading within 90 days. This move comes after Epic launched the mobile Epic Games Store on iOS in the EU in August of the previous year, due to the EU’s Digital Markets Act, which enforced the allowance of third-party app stores.

The Brazilian judge highlighted that Apple has previously complied with similar requirements in other jurisdictions without significant impact. In response, Apple intends to appeal this ruling. Additionally, the Epic Games Store was made available on iPad in the EU in September, and both Fortnite and the Epic Games Store are accessible globally on Android.

Plasma Burst Laser Weapon

The Plasma Burst Laser is a new weapon introduced in Chapter 6 Season 2, designed to defeat enemies and expedite heist processes. Unlike typical weapons, it operates on durability instead of ammo and delivers explosive damage. It can be obtained randomly through chests and floor loot or purchased at specific locations for 600 bars.

To use it, aim and fire continuously until it overheats, with its durability decreasing over time. The weapon is also effective in speeding up vault openings. In certain quests, such as Joss’ story quests, players are required to use the Plasma Burst Laser to damage stone structures until minerals drop for collection.

Item Shop Lawsuit

Epic Games is facing a proposed class-action lawsuit filed by two parents on behalf of their children. The complaint alleges that Epic Games employs deceptive practices with Fortnite’s Item Shop, creating a false sense of scarcity through countdown timers that trigger FOMO (fear of missing out) in children, though products often remain available at the same price even after the timers expire. The plaintiffs claim this violates various state consumer protection laws.

Epic Games has denied these allegations, stating they made changes to the Item Shop, including the removal of the countdown timer and the addition of various protective measures against unwanted purchases. The lawsuit seeks class-action status, which could potentially increase its scope.

These updates and collaborations aim to enhance the gaming experience, offering new content and addressing community concerns.
