David Pollack is a former American football linebacker and sports analyst, renowned for his exceptional college football career and subsequent broadcasting work.
Early Life and Education
Born on June 19, 1982, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, Pollack grew up in Snellville, Georgia. He attended Shiloh High School, where he excelled in football, basketball, and wrestling, earning Class 5A All-State honors in football and being named Defensive Lineman of the Year by the Atlanta Touchdown Club.
He went on to play college football at the University of Georgia from 2001 to 2004, where he was a three-time All-American and received several prestigious awards, including the Chuck Bednarik Award, Lott Trophy, Lombardi Award, and two Ted Hendricks Awards. Pollack set a Georgia career record with 36 sacks, ranking third in NCAA history.
Professional Career
In the 2005 NFL Draft, Pollack was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals as the 17th overall pick. He started as a linebacker but, in his second season, suffered a career-ending neck injury during a game against the Cleveland Browns. Despite initial hopes for recovery, he was unable to return to professional play.
Broadcasting Career
Following his retirement from professional football, Pollack transitioned to sports broadcasting. He began his career in 2008 with CBS and as a radio host for Atlanta’s 790 The Zone. In 2009, he joined ESPN as a college football analyst, contributing to programs like “College GameDay” starting in 2011. He continued in this role until 2023, when he was laid off as part of a network restructuring.

David Pollack is married to Lindsey, and they have two children. Recently, he shared that Lindsey has been diagnosed with brain cancer and is scheduled for surgery at Duke University Hospital. Pollack has requested prayers and support from the community during this challenging time.
