Scott Turner is the current Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). He was confirmed by the United States Senate on February 5, 2025, with a bipartisan vote of 55-44, and sworn in by Associate Justice Clarence Thomas.

Before leading HUD, Secretary Turner served as the Executive Director of the White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council, where he advanced the Opportunity Zones Initiative aimed at promoting investment in economically distressed communities.

He also held roles as an Associate Pastor at Prestonwood Baptist Church, Founder and CEO of the Community Engagement & Opportunity Council, and worked as a housing development executive at JPI.

In his tenure at HUD, Secretary Turner has focused on reducing housing costs and increasing access to affordable housing. He has collaborated with other government officials to open access to underutilized federal lands suitable for residential development.

Additionally, he has advocated for eliminating costly federal zoning regulations, aiming to empower local communities and protect suburban areas.
