At the 97th Academy Awards held on March 2, 2025, “Anora” won the Oscar for Best Picture.
Directed by Sean Baker, the film also earned him awards for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay. Mikey Madison received the Best Actress award for her portrayal of the titular character, Anora, a dancer and sex worker from Brooklyn who elopes with the son of a Russian oligarch.
“Anora” also secured the Oscar for Best Film Editing.
The film premiered at the 77th Cannes Film Festival in May 2024, where it won the prestigious Palme d’Or.
Following its Oscar success, “Anora” became available for streaming on Hulu in the United States on March 17, 2025.
