Adan Manzano, 27, was a sports reporter for Telemundo Kansas City and Tico Sports. He was found dead in his hotel room in Kenner, Louisiana, on February 5, 2025, while covering Super Bowl LIX. The Jefferson Parish coroner determined that his death resulted from “positional asphyxia” due to a combination of alcohol and Xanax.
Danette Colbert, 48, was arrested and initially charged with fraud and theft after allegedly using Manzano’s credit cards and possessing his cellphone. Subsequently, she was charged with second-degree murder. Surveillance footage showed Colbert entering and later leaving Manzano’s hotel room alone.
An alleged accomplice, Rickey White, was arrested in Florida and faces charges including simple robbery and fraud.
Manzano’s tragic death followed the earlier loss of his wife, Ashleigh Boyd, in a car accident the previous year. He is survived by their young daughter.
