Amari Williams is a British-born basketball player who plays as a center for the Kentucky Wildcats in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). Born on January 28, 2002, in Nottingham, England, he stands 7 feet tall and weighs 262 pounds.
Williams began his college career at Drexel University, where he earned the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Defensive Player of the Year award three times (2022–2024) and was named first-team All-CAA in his junior and senior years. He transferred to the University of Kentucky in 2024 to further his collegiate career.
In the 2024–2025 season, Williams has been a pivotal player for Kentucky. In a recent NCAA Tournament game against Illinois, he contributed 8 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists, 3 blocks, and a steal. Kentucky’s head coach, Mark Pope, humorously credited Williams’s performance to his childhood consumption of Weetabix cereal, stating, “It tastes amazing.”
Williams’s versatility is evident, as he set a new record for the most assists by a 7-foot player in Kentucky’s history, surpassing the previous record held by Sam Bowie. His all-around contributions have been instrumental in Kentucky’s success this season.
