Andy Samberg is an American actor, comedian, musician, writer, and producer, born on August 18, 1978, in Berkeley, California. He gained prominence as a member of the comedy trio The Lonely Island, alongside Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone. The group is renowned for their humorous music videos, including hits like “Lazy Sunday,” “I’m on a Boat,” and “Dick in a Box,” which they created during their time on Saturday Night Live (SNL).

Samberg joined SNL in 2005, where his digital shorts became a staple of the show. He left in 2012 but has returned for special appearances, such as portraying Doug Emhoff in the 2024 season premiere.

In 2013, he began starring as Detective Jake Peralta in the critically acclaimed series “Brooklyn Nine-Nine,” earning a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy in 2014.

Beyond television, Samberg has contributed to various films, including “Hot Rod” (2007), the “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” series (2009–2013), “Hotel Transylvania” (2012) and its sequels, “Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping” (2016), and the time-loop comedy “Palm Springs” (2020).

In addition to his acting career, Samberg co-hosts “The Lonely Island and Seth Meyers Podcast,” where they discuss their SNL digital shorts. The group continues to produce content, including their recent return to SNL with the sketch “Sushi Glory Hole,” showcasing their enduring comedic style.
