Anna Paulina Luna (née Mayerhofer; born May 6, 1989) is an American politician and Air Force veteran serving as the U.S. representative for Florida’s 13th congressional district since 2023. A member of the Republican Party, she is the first Mexican-American woman elected to Congress from Florida.

Early Life and Education

Born in Santa Ana, California, Luna graduated from the University of West Florida in 2017.

Military Service

Luna served in the United States Air Force from 2009 to 2014, earning the Air Force Achievement Medal.

Political Career

Luna first ran for Congress in 2020 but was defeated by incumbent Democrat Charlie Crist. She was elected in 2022 with support from former President Donald Trump, defeating Democratic nominee Eric Lynn. In the 2024 general election, Luna was re-elected with 55% of the vote against Democrat Whitney Fox.

Recent Developments

On March 31, 2025, Luna resigned from the House Freedom Caucus due to internal conflicts over her proposal to allow new parent House members to vote by proxy for up to 12 weeks post-childbirth. She cited a lack of mutual respect among members and criticized the group’s tactics.

Additionally, Luna leads the House Oversight Committee’s Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets. She is advocating for the release of a video that could provide new insights into President John F. Kennedy’s assassination, challenging the conclusion that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone.
