Barbie Ferreira is an American actress and model, best known for her role as Kat Hernandez in HBO’s “Euphoria.” Born on December 14, 1996, in New York City, she was raised in Queens and later moved to Maywood, New Jersey. Of Brazilian descent, Ferreira was brought up by her mother, aunt, and grandmother.
Ferreira began her modeling career as a teenager by submitting photos to an American Apparel casting call. She has since worked with brands like Aerie, Adidas, Asos, Forever 21, H&M, Missguided, and Target. In 2016, unretouched photos from her Aerie campaign went viral, earning her a spot on Time’s “30 Most Influential Teens” list that year.
Transitioning to acting, Ferreira starred in Vice’s “How to Behave” and Teen Vogue’s “Body Party,” both focusing on body positivity. She appeared in two episodes of HBO’s “Divorce” and joined the main cast of “Euphoria” in its first two seasons. In August 2022, Ferreira announced she would not return for the third season, citing a lack of character development for Kat.
She clarified that her departure was a mutual decision with the show’s creators, emphasizing that lingering without purpose wasn’t beneficial.
Ferreira’s recent projects include her role as Lily Trevino in “Bob Trevino Likes It,” where she also served as an executive producer. The film premiered at the 2025 SXSW Film & TV Festival and is set for release in select theaters on March 21, with a wider release on March 28.
She is also involved in upcoming projects such as “Faces of Death” and “Mile End Kicks,” where she leads the cast and works as an executive producer.
