Bennedict Mathurin is a Canadian professional basketball player who plays as a shooting guard and small forward for the Indiana Pacers in the NBA. Born on June 19, 2002, in Montreal, Quebec, he stands 6 feet 5 inches tall and weighs 210 pounds.
Mathurin began his basketball journey at the NBA Academy Latin America in Mexico City, becoming its first Canadian-born player. He later played college basketball for the Arizona Wildcats, earning honors such as Pac-12 Player of the Year and consensus second-team All-American in 2022.
Selected by the Pacers with the sixth overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, Mathurin quickly made an impact in his rookie season, earning a spot on the NBA All-Rookie First Team and finishing fourth in the Rookie of the Year voting.
In recent performances, Mathurin has been instrumental in the Pacers’ success. On March 20, 2025, he led the team with a remarkable 23-point effort, including 16 points in the fourth quarter, securing a 135-131 victory over the Dallas Mavericks. The following day, he achieved a double-double with 28 points and 16 rebounds in an overtime win against the Brooklyn Nets.
Off the court, Mathurin is known for his community involvement. He recently organized a distribution of Adidas basketball and athletic equipment for young athletes, demonstrating his commitment to supporting youth sports.
Despite facing challenges, such as a one-game suspension in January 2025 for making inappropriate contact with and verbally abusing a game official, Mathurin continues to be a valuable asset to the Pacers, consistently contributing to the team’s performance and engaging positively with the community.
