Billy Horschel, born on December 7, 1986, in Grant, Florida, is an American professional golfer currently competing on the PGA Tour. He turned professional in 2009 after a distinguished amateur career, which included winning the 2006 U.S. Amateur with a record-setting opening round of 60. Horschel was also a four-time All-American at the University of Florida and the Southeastern Conference Player of the Year in 2007 and 2009.
Since joining the PGA Tour, Horschel has secured eight PGA Tour victories, including the 2014 FedEx Cup. His wins span various tournaments, such as the 2013 Zurich Classic of New Orleans, the 2017 AT&T Byron Nelson, and the 2022 Memorial Tournament.
In September 2024, Horschel clinched his second BMW PGA Championship title in a dramatic playoff at Wentworth, edging out Rory McIlroy and Thriston Lawrence. He sealed the win with an impressive eagle putt, becoming the first American to win the event twice.
At the 2025 Players Championship held at TPC Sawgrass, Horschel faced challenging conditions due to strong winds, finishing with a 5-over 77. Despite the tough circumstances, he remained optimistic about his performance.
Beyond the course, Horschel is married to Brittany Nelson, whom he met during their time at the University of Florida. The couple has three children and resides in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
