Bobby Gene Hill Jr., commonly known as B.J. Hill, is an American professional football defensive tackle currently playing for the Cincinnati Bengals in the National Football League (NFL). Born on April 20, 1995, in Oakboro, North Carolina, Hill stands 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs 311 pounds.
Hill attended NC State, where he played college football from 2014 to 2017. During his collegiate career, he became a starting defensive tackle midway through his freshman year and maintained that role throughout, playing in 51 games with 44 starts. He concluded his college career with 187 tackles, nine sacks, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and 10 pass deflections.
In the 2018 NFL Draft, Hill was selected by the New York Giants in the third round as the 69th overall pick. He played for the Giants until 2020, recording 7.5 sacks and 116 tackles over three seasons. In August 2021, Hill was traded to the Cincinnati Bengals, where he has been a significant contributor to their defensive line. Notably, in the AFC Championship against the Kansas City Chiefs, he intercepted Patrick Mahomes, leading to a game-tying touchdown in the eventual 27–24 overtime victory.
Throughout his NFL career, Hill has demonstrated remarkable durability, playing in 112 of a possible 114 games since being drafted. He has amassed 23.5 sacks, 66 quarterback hits, 341 tackles, 16 passes defensed, four fumble recoveries, and two interceptions. In the 2024 season, he recorded 56 tackles, seven tackles for loss, nine quarterback hits, and three sacks in 15 games, earning a Pro Football Focus grade of 70.2.
On March 10, 2025, Hill re-signed with the Bengals on a three-year, $33 million contract, with $16 million guaranteed, underscoring the team’s confidence in his abilities and contributions.
