History
In March 1926, Borger and his partner, attorney John R. Miller, purchased a 240-acre townsite near the Canadian River in southern Hutchinson County after discovering oil in the vicinity. Within months, the population surged as thousands flocked to the area seeking fortune, leading to the city’s rapid establishment.
Economy
Today, Borger remains an important industrial center, with a robust presence of oil, gas, and petrochemical industries. The city was designated an All-American City in 1969.
