Brett Goldstein is a British actor, comedian, and writer, best known for his role as Roy Kent in the Apple TV+ series “Ted Lasso.” Born on July 17, 1980, in Sutton, London, he comes from a British-Jewish family. Goldstein pursued acting at the University of Warwick, graduating with a degree in Film and Feminism.
He briefly worked in a strip club his father purchased during a midlife crisis, an experience he later transformed into a stand-up comedy show titled “Brett Goldstein Grew Up in A Strip Club,” performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
In television, Goldstein appeared in British series such as “Drifters,” “Derek,” and “Uncle.” He gained significant recognition for his portrayal of Roy Kent in “Ted Lasso,” a role that earned him the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series in 2021.
Beyond acting, Goldstein co-created and wrote the series “Soulmates” and signed a multi-year overall deal with Warner Bros. Television.
In 2022, he made a cameo appearance as Hercules in “Thor: Love and Thunder,” marking his entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He is also involved in the Apple TV+ series “Shrinking,” where he plays Louis, a character distinct from his previous roles.
Recent reports suggest that Goldstein is collaborating with Jennifer Lopez on the upcoming Netflix romantic comedy “Office Romance,” with filming underway in New Jersey.
