Byron Leftwich, born on January 14, 1980, in Washington, D.C., is a former professional football quarterback and coach. He played college football at Marshall University, earning the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Most Valuable Player award twice.

Selected seventh overall in the 2003 NFL Draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars, Leftwich also played for the Atlanta Falcons, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers during his NFL career. Notably, he was part of the Steelers’ Super Bowl XLIII-winning team.

Transitioning to coaching, Leftwich served as the offensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2019 to 2022, contributing to the team’s Super Bowl LV victory.

After his tenure with the Buccaneers ended following the 2022 season, he joined Deion Sanders’ coaching staff at the University of Colorado in March 2025. His specific role within the team has not been publicly disclosed.
