The BYU Cougars men’s basketball team represents Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah. As of the 2024–25 season, they compete in the Big 12 Conference under first-year head coach Kevin Young.
Recent Performance: In the 2024–25 season, the Cougars achieved a 22–8 overall record, with a 13–6 mark in Big 12 play, placing them third in the conference standings. They entered the Big 12 tournament as the No. 3 seed but fell to Iowa State in the quarterfinals. Despite this setback, BYU secured an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament as the No. 6 seed in the East region. Their tournament run concluded with a first-round loss to Duquesne.
Coaching Changes: Following the 2023–24 season, head coach Mark Pope departed to lead the University of Kentucky’s basketball program. BYU appointed Kevin Young as his successor in April 2024.
Upcoming Season: Looking ahead to the 2025–26 season, the Cougars aim to build on their recent successes and continue their competitive presence in the Big 12 Conference under Coach Young’s leadership.
