The Brigham Young University (BYU) men’s basketball team recently secured an 80-71 victory over Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament’s East Region. Richie Saunders led the team with 16 points, while Egor Demin contributed 15 points. Fousseyni Traore and Keba Keita added 13 and 9 points, respectively, with Keita also grabbing nine rebounds.

This win marked BYU’s first advancement past the first round since 2011. They will face the University of Wisconsin in the next round.

In the game, BYU established an 11-point halftime lead and maintained control, despite a late push from VCU.
