canadiens vs kraken

On March 12, 2025, the Seattle Kraken defeated the Montreal Canadiens 5-4 in overtime at Climate Pledge Arena. Defenseman Brandon Montour scored the game-winning goal just four seconds into overtime, matching the fastest OT goal in NHL history.

Montour contributed significantly, recording two goals and two assists. Jani Nyman, in his NHL debut, scored his first career goal, while Eeli Tolvanen and Matty Beniers also added goals for Seattle. Jordan Eberle provided three assists.

For Montreal, Juraj Slafkovsky netted two goals, and Patrik Laine and Alex Newhook each scored once. Despite leading 4-2, the Canadiens couldn’t hold off Seattle’s late-game surge, which included two power-play goals in the final ten minutes to force overtime.

This victory improved Seattle’s record to 28-34-4, while Montreal’s loss hindered their playoff aspirations.
