Carlos Austin Boozer Jr. (born November 20, 1981, in Aschaffenburg, Germany) is a former professional basketball player known for his impactful career in the NBA and his contributions to Team USA. Standing 6 feet 9 inches (206 cm) and weighing 258 pounds (117 kg), Boozer primarily played as a power forward and center.

Early Life and Education

Boozer spent his high school years in Juneau, Alaska, where he earned recognition as a McDonald’s All-American in 1999. He went on to play college basketball at Duke University, where he was part of the team that secured the NCAA Championship in 2001.

NBA Career

In the 2002 NBA Draft, Boozer was selected by the Cleveland Cavaliers as the 35th overall pick. He went on to play 13 seasons in the NBA with teams including the Cleveland Cavaliers, Utah Jazz, Chicago Bulls, and Los Angeles Lakers. Throughout his career, Boozer was recognized as a two-time NBA All-Star and earned All-NBA Third Team honors in 2008.

He also represented the USA Basketball team, winning a bronze medal at the 2004 Athens Olympics and a gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Post-Retirement and Family

After retiring from professional play, Boozer has remained involved in basketball through commentary and analysis. He has also been a supportive father to his twin sons, Cameron and Cayden Boozer, both of whom are standout basketball prospects. In October 2024, the brothers committed to Duke University, following in their father’s footsteps. Cameron is ranked as the No. 2 overall recruit, while Cayden holds the No. 21 spot nationally.
