chaz lanier

Chaz Lanier is a 6’5″, 207-pound guard for the Tennessee Volunteers men’s basketball team. Born on December 19, 2001, in Nashville, Tennessee, he attended The Ensworth School before playing college basketball.

Lanier began his collegiate career at the University of North Florida, where he played from 2020 to 2024. Over his four seasons with the North Florida Ospreys, he developed into a key player, culminating in his senior year (2023-2024) when he averaged 19.7 points per game and earned First-team All-ASUN honors.

In May 2024, Lanier transferred to the University of Tennessee to join the Volunteers. In his debut season (2024-2025), he emerged as the team’s leading scorer, averaging 17.7 points per game. His performance earned him Second-team All-SEC honors and recognition as the SEC Newcomer of the Year.

Lanier has been instrumental in several of Tennessee’s significant victories. For instance, he scored 30 points in a win against Texas A&M, leading the Volunteers to a 77-69 victory.

Additionally, he contributed 24 points in a win over Norfolk State, helping Tennessee maintain an unbeaten record at that time.

Beyond his athletic achievements, Lanier has been recognized for his sportsmanship and leadership qualities, earning All-America honors from Sporting News alongside his teammate, Zakai Zeigler.
