Clark Kellogg is a former professional basketball player and current sports analyst, best known for his role as the lead college basketball analyst for CBS Sports. Born on July 2, 1961, in Cleveland, Ohio, Kellogg had a standout basketball career both in high school and college before transitioning to broadcasting.
Early Life and Education
Kellogg attended St. Joseph High School in Cleveland, where he gained recognition for his exceptional basketball skills. He went on to play for Ohio State University from 1979 to 1982, earning All-Big Ten Conference honors and the team’s Most Valuable Player award. In 1996, he completed his marketing degree at Ohio State.
Professional Basketball Career
In 1982, Kellogg was selected by the Indiana Pacers as the 8th overall pick in the NBA Draft. He played as a power forward for the Pacers from 1982 to 1987, achieving impressive statistics, including an average of 20.1 points and 10.6 rebounds per game in his rookie season.
However, his career was cut short due to chronic knee issues, leading to his retirement after five seasons.
Broadcasting Career
Transitioning to broadcasting, Kellogg joined CBS Sports in 1990 as a college basketball analyst. He became the network’s lead analyst in 2008, calling his first Final Four and NCAA Championship game in 2009. Known for coining the term “spurtability” to describe teams’ abilities to score rapidly, Kellogg also provided commentary for the NBA 2K video game series alongside Kevin Harlan.
Personal Life
Married to his wife, Rosy, since 1983, Kellogg has three children: sons Clark (Alex) and Nick, and daughter Talisa. Both sons played college basketball, with Alex at Providence College and Ohio University, and Nick at Ohio University.
Talisa competed in Division I volleyball at Georgia Tech. Kellogg is also involved in community service, serving on the board of trustees for The Ohio State University and participating in various charitable activities.
