Clifford Omoruyi is a Nigerian-American college basketball player who plays as a center for the Alabama Crimson Tide. Born on October 11, 2001, in Benin City, Nigeria, Omoruyi moved to the United States at age 14 to pursue basketball. He attended Queen of Peace High School in North Arlington, New Jersey, before transferring to Roselle Catholic High School, where he averaged 14.2 points, 11.5 rebounds, and 5.4 blocks per game as a senior.
Omoruyi began his collegiate career at Rutgers University, where he played from 2020 to 2024. Over his four-year tenure, he earned honors such as the Big Ten All-Defensive Team and Second-Team All-Big Ten recognition. In his junior year, he averaged 13.2 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 2.1 blocks per game. After graduating, Omoruyi transferred to the University of Alabama in May 2024 to play his fifth and final season.
During the 2024-2025 season, Omoruyi has been a key contributor for Alabama. In the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament on March 27, 2025, he scored 10 points and grabbed six rebounds in a 113-88 victory over BYU. Alabama advanced to the Elite Eight, marking their second consecutive appearance at this stage.
