Darian DeVries is the newly appointed head coach of Indiana University’s men’s basketball team, succeeding Mike Woodson. DeVries, 49, brings a wealth of experience to Bloomington, having previously served as head coach at West Virginia University for the 2024–2025 season and at Drake University from 2018 to 2024.
At West Virginia, DeVries led the Mountaineers to a 19–13 record, with significant victories over teams like Gonzaga, Kansas, and Iowa State. Prior to that, his tenure at Drake was marked by remarkable success, including six consecutive 20-win seasons and three NCAA Tournament appearances.
Indiana’s Athletic Director, Scott Dolson, praised DeVries for his proven ability to build a championship culture and his extensive experience, which includes 15 NCAA Tournament appearances as both a head coach and assistant. DeVries expressed excitement about leading Indiana’s storied basketball program and emphasized his commitment to assembling a competitive team.
