The College of Charleston, established in 1770 and chartered in 1785, is a public university located in Charleston, South Carolina. It is the oldest university in South Carolina and the 13th-oldest institution of higher learning in the United States. The college’s main campus in downtown Charleston spans 56 acres and includes 156 buildings, blending historic and modern architecture.
