cornelius lucas

Cornelius Lucas, born on July 18, 1991, in New Orleans, Louisiana, is a professional American football offensive tackle currently playing for the Cleveland Browns in the NFL.

Early Life and Education

Lucas attended Edna Karr High School in New Orleans. He played college football at Kansas State University from 2009 to 2013, earning First-team All-Big 12 honors in 2012 and Second-team All-Big 12 honors in 2013.

Professional Career

After going undrafted in 2014, Lucas signed with the Detroit Lions, where he played from 2014 to 2016. He later joined the Los Angeles Rams, New Orleans Saints, and Chicago Bears. In 2020, he signed with the Washington Football Team (now the Washington Commanders), serving as a swing tackle and starting at left tackle during the 2020 season. He re-signed with Washington in 2022 and 2024, continuing to provide valuable depth and experience to their offensive line.

Cleveland Browns

On March 11, 2025, Lucas signed a two-year, $10 million contract with the Cleveland Browns. The team was in need of depth at the offensive tackle position, and Lucas’s experience and performance made him a valuable addition. In the 2024 season with Washington, he played in 14 games, starting seven, and allowed only one sack. His pass-blocking grade was among the highest for left tackles available in free agency.

Beyond football, Lucas has been involved in community activities, including organizing holiday shopping sprees for local children in partnership with Easterns Motors.
