D’Angelo Russell is an American professional basketball player currently playing as a point guard for the Brooklyn Nets in the NBA. Born on February 23, 1996, in Louisville, Kentucky, he played college basketball for the Ohio State Buckeyes before being selected second overall in the 2015 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Lakers.

Throughout his career, Russell has also played for the Brooklyn Nets and the Minnesota Timberwolves. In December 2024, he was traded back to the Nets from the Lakers in exchange for Dorian Finney-Smith, Shake Milton, and three future second-round draft picks.

As of March 27, 2025, Russell is averaging 12.9 points, 5.1 assists, and 2.8 rebounds per game in the 2024-2025 season. In his most recent game on March 26, 2025, he scored five points, grabbed five rebounds, and dished out two assists in a loss to the Toronto Raptors. ​

Beyond his on-court endeavors, Russell co-hosts the “Backyard Podcast” with Logan Linkmeyer. In March 2025, the podcast, along with others hosted by Dwight Howard, Penny Hardaway, and Victor Oladipo, joined the Blue Wire podcast network, expanding their reach and audience.
