Daniel Jones is an American professional football quarterback currently playing for the Minnesota Vikings in the National Football League (NFL). Born on May 27, 1997, in Charlotte, North Carolina, he played college football at Duke University before being selected sixth overall by the New York Giants in the 2019 NFL Draft.
During his time with the Giants, Jones led the team to their first playoff appearance since 2016 and secured their first postseason victory since 2011. In March 2023, he signed a four-year, $160 million contract extension with the Giants. However, his 2023 season was marred by injuries, including a neck injury and a torn ACL in his right knee, which led to his release in November 2024.
Shortly after his release, Jones joined the Minnesota Vikings, initially signing to their practice squad in November 2024 and being promoted to the active roster in January 2025.
As of March 2025, the Vikings are exploring their quarterback options, including the possibility of re-signing Jones or pursuing other veterans like Aaron Rodgers.
