Derik Queen is a 6-foot-10-inch, 245-pound freshman center for the Maryland Terrapins men’s basketball team. Born on December 27, 2004, in Baltimore, Maryland, he attended St. Frances Academy in Baltimore and later Montverde Academy in Florida during his high school years.

In his debut game for Maryland on November 5, 2024, Queen achieved a double-double with 22 points and 20 rebounds in a 79-49 victory over Manhattan.

Throughout the 2024-2025 season, he averaged 15.9 points and 9.1 rebounds per game, earning honors such as Big Ten Freshman of the Year and first-team All-Big Ten selection. His performance included a standout 31-point game against Michigan in the Big Ten Tournament semifinals.
