Douglas Kiker

Douglas Kiker, widely known as “The Singing Garbage Man” from Season 18 of “American Idol,” passed away on March 10, 2025, at the age of 32. His sister, Angela Evans, confirmed his death in a heartfelt Facebook post, expressing the family’s profound grief and seeking prayers during this difficult time.

Kiker gained national attention during his 2020 audition on “American Idol” with a moving performance of Rascal Flatts’ “Bless the Broken Road,” which brought judge Katy Perry to tears. Kiker is survived by his ex-fiancée, Valerie Cook, and their two children. A GoFundMe campaign has been established to assist with funeral expenses and to support his family during this challenging period.
