edgar berlanga

Edgar Berlanga is an American professional boxer from Brooklyn, New York, born on May 18, 1997. He competes in the super middleweight division and gained prominence for his remarkable knockout streak early in his career. Berlanga began boxing at the age of seven and amassed an amateur record of 162–17.

Turning professional in April 2016, Berlanga quickly made a name for himself by achieving 16 consecutive first-round knockouts, drawing comparisons to legendary punchers like Mike Tyson. However, his KO streak ended in April 2021 when he went the distance with Demond Nicholson, winning by unanimous decision.

In September 2024, Berlanga faced Canelo Álvarez for the unified WBA, WBC, and WBO super middleweight titles at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. He lost the bout by unanimous decision, marking his first professional defeat.

On March 15, 2025, Berlanga made a successful return to the ring by defeating Jonathan González-Ortiz in the first round. Despite missing the contracted weight, the bout proceeded with González-Ortiz’s NABO super middleweight title on the line, resulting in a first-round TKO victory for Berlanga.

Looking ahead, Berlanga has expressed interest in facing top fighters such as Jaime Munguía, Jermall Charlo, Caleb Plant, and a potential rematch with Canelo Álvarez.
