Elizabeth Banks, born Elizabeth Irene Mitchell on February 10, 1974, in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, is an accomplished American actress, director, and producer. She gained prominence for her role as Effie Trinket in “The Hunger Games” series (2012–2015) and as Gail Abernathy-McKadden in the “Pitch Perfect” series (2012–2017). ​

Banks began her acting career with a series of supporting roles, including Betty Brant in Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man” trilogy (2002–2007). She also appeared as Dr. Kim Briggs in the television series “Scrubs” (2005–2006) and as Avery Jessup in “30 Rock” (2009–2012), earning three Emmy nominations for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series. ​

Transitioning to directing, Banks made her debut with “Pitch Perfect 2” (2015), which achieved significant box office success. She continued her directorial pursuits with “Charlie’s Angels” (2019), where she also served as writer and producer. ​
