Freddie Freeman is a professional baseball first baseman currently playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Born on September 12, 1989, in Villa Park, California, he began his MLB career with the Atlanta Braves in 2010. After 12 seasons with the Braves, Freeman signed a six-year, $162 million contract with the Dodgers in 2022.
In 2024, Freeman had an impressive season, hitting 22 home runs, recording 89 RBIs, and achieving a .282 batting average over 147 games. His performance contributed significantly to the Dodgers’ success, culminating in a World Series victory against the New York Yankees, where he earned the World Series MVP honors.
Recently, Freeman faced a minor setback when he slipped entering the shower at home, aggravating his surgically repaired right ankle. This incident led to swelling, and he was considered day-to-day. As of March 31, 2025, he was absent from the Dodgers’ lineup for a game against the Atlanta Braves.
Off the field, Freeman’s family has faced challenges as well. His 4-year-old son, Max, was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré syndrome, a rare autoimmune disorder that caused full-body paralysis. Chelsea Freeman, Freddie’s wife, shared that Max is now “80 percent recovered,” showing significant improvements and surpassing his pre-GBS weight.
Despite these personal challenges, the Freeman family celebrated Freddie Freeman’s second World Series title, his first with the Dodgers, following their victory against the Yankees.
