Georgia is home to two prominent NCAA Division I basketball programs: the University of Georgia Bulldogs and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

Georgia Bulldogs:

The Bulldogs compete in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). In the 2024–25 season, they achieved a 20–11 overall record and an 8–10 mark in SEC play. Their performance earned them a spot in the SEC tournament, where they faced the Oklahoma Sooners in the first round but fell 81-75. Oklahoma’s Jeremiah Fears led all scorers with 29 points in that game.

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets:

The Yellow Jackets are members of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC). On March 12, 2025, they secured a 66-60 victory over Virginia in the ACC tournament’s second round. Duncan Powell led Georgia Tech with 21 points in that matchup.

Recent Highlights:

  • Georgia Tech’s win against Virginia advanced them to the ACC tournament quarterfinals, where they are set to face top-seeded Duke.
