GRiZ, born Grant Richard Kwiecinski on May 31, 1990, in Southfield, Michigan, is an American DJ, producer, and saxophonist known for blending funk, electro-soul, and future-funk genres.
He began playing the saxophone and piano in elementary school and later attended Michigan State University before dropping out to pursue music full-time.
Since his debut album, End of the World Party, in 2011, GRiZ has released several successful albums, including Mad Liberation (2012), Rebel Era (2013), Say It Loud (2015), Good Will Prevail (2016), Ride Waves (2019), and Rainbow Brain (2021). His most recent album, Ouroboros, was released in 2023.
Beyond his music, GRiZ is known for his philanthropic efforts, particularly through his annual “12 Days of GRiZMAS” campaign, which raises funds for various charitable causes.
