Early Life and Education
Joe attended Northside High School in Fort Smith, where he averaged 22.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, and 2.9 steals per game during his senior year. His performance earned him the Gatorade Arkansas Boys Basketball Player of the Year and USA Today’s State Player of the Year honors.
He played college basketball for the Arkansas Razorbacks from 2018 to 2020. In his freshman year, Joe averaged 13.9 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game, earning a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team. He set a school record by making 113 three-pointers that season. As a sophomore, he improved his scoring to 16.9 points per game before declaring for the NBA Draft in August 2020.
Professional Career
Joe was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers with the 49th overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft. He signed with the team in December 2020 and made his debut later that month. Over two seasons with the 76ers, he averaged 3.7 points per game in the 2020–2021 season and 3.6 points in the 2021–2022 season. In October 2022, he signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Since joining the Thunder, Joe has taken on a more prominent role. In the 2022–2023 season, he averaged 9.5 points per game, with standout performances including a career-high 33 points against the Charlotte Hornets in March 2023. He re-signed with the Thunder in July 2024 on a four-year, $48 million contract. In January 2025, Joe scored a season-high 31 points in a win over the New York Knicks.
