As of March 18, 2025, Darian DeVries is the head coach of Indiana University’s men’s basketball team. He succeeded Mike Woodson, who stepped down after four seasons. DeVries, 49, previously coached at West Virginia University for one season, leading the team to a 19-13 record with notable victories over Gonzaga, Kansas, and Iowa State.

Before that, he spent six successful seasons at Drake University, achieving six consecutive 20-win seasons and earning three NCAA Tournament appearances. His overall coaching record stands at 169-68.

Indiana’s Athletic Director, Scott Dolson, praised DeVries for his extensive experience, which includes 15 NCAA Tournament appearances as both a head coach and assistant, and for his ability to build a championship culture. DeVries expressed excitement about leading Indiana’s storied basketball program and emphasized his commitment to assembling a competitive team.
