James Madison University’s men’s basketball team recently concluded their season with a 102-93 double-overtime loss to Texas State on March 1, 2025.

This defeat placed the Dukes as the No. 8 seed in the Sun Belt Conference tournament. The tournament is currently underway, with James Madison having played their first-round game on March 5, 2025, against the No. 9 seed, Georgia Southern.

The Dukes secured a 76-71 victory, advancing to the quarterfinals. In the quarterfinals on March 7, 2025, they faced the No. 1 seed, Appalachian State, and were eliminated after a hard-fought game, concluding their season.

The women’s basketball team also participated in the Sun Belt Conference tournament. They entered as the No. 5 seed and played their first game on March 6, 2025, against the No. 12 seed, Coastal Carolina. The Dukes won convincingly with a score of 80-66, advancing to the quarterfinals.

On March 8, 2025, they faced the No. 4 seed, Arkansas State, and secured a 72-68 victory, moving on to the semifinals. In the semifinals on March 10, 2025, James Madison played against the No. 1 seed, South Alabama, but were defeated 85-75, ending their tournament run.
