James McCann is an American professional baseball catcher currently signed to a minor league contract with the Atlanta Braves. Born on June 13, 1990, in Santa Barbara, California, McCann has played for several MLB teams, including the Detroit Tigers, Chicago White Sox, New York Mets, and Baltimore Orioles. He earned an All-Star selection in 2019 while with the White Sox.
In 2024, McCann played for the Baltimore Orioles, posting a .234 batting average with eight home runs and 31 RBIs over 65 games.
Following the Orioles’ acquisition of catcher Gary Sánchez in March 2025, McCann signed a minor league deal with the Atlanta Braves to provide depth at the catcher position.
