Jared Butler is an American professional basketball player currently playing as a guard for the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA. Born on August 25, 2000, in Reserve, Louisiana, he attended Riverside Academy, where he excelled in basketball, earning first-team All-State honors and Player of the Year as a senior.
Butler began his college career at the University of Alabama but transferred to Baylor University, where he played from 2018 to 2021. During his junior year, he led Baylor to its first national championship and was named the NCAA Final Four Most Outstanding Player. He averaged 16.7 points, 4.8 assists, and 3.3 rebounds per game that season.
In the 2021 NBA Draft, Butler was selected 40th overall by the New Orleans Pelicans but was traded to the Utah Jazz. Throughout his NBA career, he has also played for the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Washington Wizards. On February 6, 2025, Butler was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers, along with four future second-round draft picks, in exchange for guard Reggie Jackson and a 2026 first-round pick.
Since joining the 76ers, he has averaged 10.0 points, 4.7 assists, and 2.7 rebounds per game over three appearances.
