Jase Richardson is a freshman guard for the Michigan State Spartans men’s basketball team. Born on October 16, 2005, in Berkeley, California, he grew up in Denver, Colorado. Richardson attended Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he averaged 14 points, five rebounds, five assists, and two steals per game as a sophomore. He later transferred to Christopher Columbus High School in Westchester, Florida, before committing to Michigan State.

Standing 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighing 185 pounds, Richardson has made a significant impact in his freshman year. He averages 12.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game, shooting 50.2% from the field. His performance has earned him a spot on the Big Ten All-Freshman Team and third-team All-Big Ten honors.

Richardson’s father, Jason Richardson, was a standout player for Michigan State, contributing to their 2000 NCAA national championship win. He went on to have a successful 14-season NBA career, earning over $100 million and winning the Slam Dunk Contest twice. Jase aims to emulate his father’s legacy by leading the Spartans to another national title.

In the 2025 NCAA Tournament, Richardson led Michigan State to the Elite Eight, scoring 20 points in a victory over Ole Miss. However, their tournament run ended with a loss to Auburn, concluding their March Madness journey. Looking ahead, Richardson is projected to be a lottery pick in the upcoming NBA Draft, with teams like the Orlando Magic showing interest.
