Jasson Domínguez, nicknamed “El Marciano” or “The Martian,” is a Dominican professional baseball outfielder for the New York Yankees. Born on February 7, 2003, in Esperanza, Dominican Republic, he signed with the Yankees in 2019 and made his MLB debut on September 1, 2023.
In his debut game, Domínguez hit a home run off Justin Verlander, becoming the youngest player in Yankees history to homer in his first at-bat and the youngest in MLB history to do so in his first plate appearance. He played eight games that season, hitting four home runs. However, he suffered a torn ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) in his right elbow, requiring Tommy John surgery.
Domínguez returned to action in 2024, spending time with the Yankees’ Triple-A affiliate, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. He was recalled to the majors in September 2024 but struggled, batting .179 in 56 at-bats and facing defensive challenges in left field.
Looking ahead to the 2025 season, the Yankees have designated Domínguez as their starting left fielder. Manager Aaron Boone has expressed optimism about his potential, highlighting his work ethic and talent. Domínguez has been working diligently to improve his defensive skills and aims to contribute significantly to the team’s success.
As of March 31, 2025, Domínguez is 22 years old and continues to develop as a key player for the Yankees, with expectations for a breakout season.
