Jay Wright, born on December 24, 1961, in Churchville, Pennsylvania, is a distinguished American basketball coach renowned for his tenure as the head coach of Villanova University’s men’s basketball team from 2001 to 2022.
Playing Career: Wright began his basketball journey at Council Rock High School North in Newtown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania. He continued his athletic pursuits at Bucknell University, where he played as a guard for the Bucknell Bison from 1979 to 1983. During his collegiate career, he appeared in 74 games and averaged 6.4 points per game.
Coaching Career: After graduating, Wright embarked on a coaching career that spanned several institutions:
