Jaylen Brown, born on October 24, 1996, in Marietta, Georgia, is an American professional basketball player who plays as a guard and forward for the Boston Celtics in the NBA. He played one year of college basketball for the California Golden Bears, earning first-team All-Pac-12 honors and being named Pac-12 Freshman of the Year. The Celtics selected Brown with the third overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft.
In July 2023, Brown signed a five-year, $304 million contract extension with the Celtics, making it the largest contract in NBA history at that time.
He played a pivotal role in the Celtics’ 2024 NBA Championship victory over the Dallas Mavericks, earning Finals MVP honors after averaging 20.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game.
As of March 12, 2025, in a game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Brown struggled, scoring only 10 points and fouling out late in the fourth quarter. The Celtics lost the game 118-112, ending their five-game winning streak.
