John B. Larson (born 1948):
An American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for Connecticut’s 1st congressional district since 1999. A member of the Democratic Party, Larson has been involved in various legislative efforts, including those addressing energy independence and social issues.
In February 2025, he experienced a medical episode—a complex partial seizure—while delivering a speech on the House floor regarding Social Security concerns. His office attributed the incident to an adverse reaction to newly prescribed medication, and he has since resumed his congressional duties.
John Augustus Larson (1892–1965):
A Canadian-born American police officer and forensic psychiatrist. He is renowned for inventing the modern polygraph device, commonly known as the lie detector, in 1921. His work significantly advanced forensic science, though he later expressed regret over the widespread use of his invention.
