Jonathan Kuminga is a professional basketball player from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, currently playing as a forward for the Golden State Warriors in the NBA. Born on October 6, 2002, in Goma, DR Congo, Kuminga moved to the United States in 2016 to pursue his basketball career. He attended multiple high schools, including Huntington Prep in West Virginia, Our Savior New American in New York, and The Patrick School in New Jersey.
In 2020, Kuminga joined the NBA G League Ignite, a developmental team, where he averaged 15.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game. His impressive performance led the Golden State Warriors to select him with the seventh overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft.
During his rookie season, Kuminga contributed to the Warriors’ NBA championship victory, becoming the second-youngest NBA champion at 19 years and 253 days.
On January 4, 2025, Kuminga suffered a right ankle sprain, sidelining him for 31 games. He made his return on March 14, 2025, in a game against the Sacramento Kings, scoring 18 points in 20 minutes off the bench.
