Hyunju “Juju” Chang, born on September 17, 1965, in Seoul, South Korea, is an Emmy Award-winning television journalist currently serving as the co-anchor of ABC News’ “Nightline.” She also contributes regularly to “Good Morning America” and “20/20.” ​

Early Life and Education

Chang immigrated to the United States in 1969 and grew up in Sunnyvale, California. She graduated with honors from Stanford University in 1987 with a Bachelor of Arts in political science and communication.

Career at ABC News

Chang began her career at ABC in 1984 as a desk assistant. She became a producer and off-air reporter for “ABC World News Tonight” in 1991, covering significant events like the 1991 Gulf War and the 1992 U.S. presidential election. After a stint at KGO-TV in San Francisco, she returned to ABC News in 1996 as a correspondent for NewsOne, covering the White House and Capitol Hill.

She later anchored programs such as “World News Now” and “World News This Morning.” In 2011, Chang transitioned to “Nightline” as a special correspondent and fill-in anchor, eventually becoming co-anchor in 2014. ​

Personal Life

Chang married Neal Shapiro, a news executive, on December 2, 1995. They have three sons. Chang is actively involved in the Asian-American community, serving as a founding board member of the Korean American Community Foundation and as a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. ​
